Mark J. Reynolds Bench Dedication
Hi
everybody,
Below are directions to the bench for the
Sunday, Oct. 10
dedication ceremony, 3-4 p.m. in Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park.
Quote from Ranger Bobbie: "The
bench has been a hit! Everyone thinks it looks awesome!!"
Choices to get to the Mark J bench at the top of
Dreaded Hill:
1. Short hike: Park along Santiago Canyon Road
(take El Toro Rd East from I-5; it turns into Santiago Cyn Rd).
The gate will be 1.4 – 1.5 miles beyond Cook’s Corner on the
LEFT side. Then from there, it’s just under a mile to hike to
where the bench is.
2. 3 mile hike or bike: There is parking lot off of
Portola Pkwy & Market Pl. From I-5, exit Lake Forest Dr. East. Go
6 or so miles, pass under the 241, turn Left on Portola. Look for
Market Pl after Bake Pkwy.
3. Steeper 2 mile Ride: There is a parking lot off
of Glenn Ranch Road. Take Lake Forest Dr. East again, but turn
Right at Portola Pkwy. then Left on Glenn Ranch Rd. Parking lot
will be on Left. The most direct way is extremely steep and there
is no shade at all.
These are the best directions I have. You may want
to consult a Thomas Guide as well.
Looking forward to seeing some of you there.
