Celo Pacific Racing Club is a club for those who enjoy and support bicycle competition. We encourage all of our members to race their bicycles whether this means road, track or mountain bike racing and includes cyclocross, duathlons and triathlons. We even have competitive single speed racers. Celo Pacific membership includes national duathlon, road and time trial champions, medal winners at the masters’ national track championships, state time trial, criterium, track and cyclocross champions.

Celo Pacific is not an elite club: we’re all equal. Our women and junior racers are just as important as our male racers. In races, we emphasis teamwork: we don’t chase down our teammates but there are no marching orders. We believe racing at our level is meant to be fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. On the other hand, club members do not have to race. Just a desire to support and train with a racing club is enough.

Rather than reserve club benefits for a select few, we distribute benefits as broadly as possible. For most of last year and continuing this year, we’ve reimbursed members who have worked our San Luis Rey road race or the club cyclocross races for all of their race entry fees.

In 2007, Celo Pacific put on two successful cyclocross races, both part of the So Cal Cross Prestige Series. The Mark Reynolds San Luis Rey Road Cycling Classic, held on the first Sunday of May, is our signature race. It is now in its 21st year and it is possibly the best road race in Southern California.

Celo Pacific has always had one of the best race reimbursement policies. We have special reimbursements for national and world championships. Our reimbursement policy, of course, depends upon the success of the races we promote and our sponsors. We also have single and double bike bags for our members’ use at no cost.

All we ask from our members is that they are good Celo Pacific representatives and teammates, help run our club races and support our sponsors. And more importantly: we do this because it’s fun!

Our membership fees are as follows: Single $40; Family $60; and Supporting $20. Supporting membership is for those members who do not intend to race. They receive all of the benefits of membership but are not entitled to race reimbursements.

Jim Cushing-murray. 2001 Master Time Trial, Criterium, Cyclocross and 500 Meter California State Champion. Four silver medals at 2001 Masters Track Championships. Past Masters Road Champion. 4th in the 2007 National CX Championships, Masters 65-69 class, Kansas City.

In addition, Celo Pacific, because of its proximity to Camp Pendleton Marine base, has several club members who are in the Marine Corp and Navy. This includes officers and enlisted men. Many of these men have recently been deployed to the Middle East but can be found on aircraft carriers and other ships training hard on their turbo trainers.
